OXIDIZED BITUMEN 85/30

Description

Description:

Oxidized Bitumen 85/30 (or Blown Bitumen 85/30) is made by the continuous or staggered process. This process is done by air blowing Pure Penetration Bitumen 60/70. Heated Penetration Bitumen is always under control to monitor all conditions, especially oil content, thru the oxidization procedure. As said before, the common grade and primary material that use to produce oxidized grades are Penetration Bitumen 60/70, which has been used moreover than the other conventional bitumen grades. The amount of heat and duration of exposure to heat determine the Oxidized Bitumen grade.

Technical Properties:

Blown Bitumen R85/30 is in semi-solid and midrange of this classify which has a softening point between 80 to 90 (ASTM D36) and its needle penetration degree is equal to 30 desi-millimeter (ASTM D5). All tests are performed by ASTM international test method. For more information, you can refer to Test Data Sheet (TDS) section.

Applications:

Oxidized Bitumen R85/30 (or Blown Bitumen 85/30) has numerous usage in various industries like painting, photographic paper, bituminous products, paving, combination with fuel, chemical applications, insulating, bitumen-based paints (that they are used to coating and preventing pipes and some facilities against corrosion), construction, road making and treatment, crack sealing, civil works, Portland cement pavements, car and automobile industries (as an undercarriage sealant), roofing, flooring, facing, waterproofing, dust proofing, noise proofing, membrane sheet component, etc.

Handling/Storage:

Heating Bitumen in most final uses is a critical stage. Generally, the most important thing in this procedure is heat control. Temperature and heat control can affect various aspects of the product, including its quality. The safe and recommended maximum temperature is 230℃.

All Oxidized Bitumen is not hazardous at below 100℃ during shipping operations. Blown Bitumen 85/30 for flow and discharge from boiler needs to potential and heat. Heating and heat transfer should be control and perfect. Without good heat transfer may cause overheating and release low flash vapors, which these unwanted side products have a higher fire risk.

Moreover, melted bitumen should not be left in the boiler to get cold. Because it can cause overheating and needs more positional energy. Furthermore, placement and installing any temperature and pressure monitoring and control devices are very important. Because if their placement is not true, thermometers can’t display the actual temperature that it can leads to poor monitoring and thermal conductivity.

Health/Safety:

Employees that work in the Oxidized Bitumen plant should be wearing safety equipment like gloves, safety glasses, masks (especial protective masks), and any other personal protective equipment.
